The project required balancing modern new-construction methods with strict historic preservation standards for the building's original masonry façade, all while managing significant concrete demolition on a constrained urban site.
We brought in a dedicated historic masonry restoration crew to work alongside general construction trades, sequencing façade preservation ahead of interior demolition and new-construction work to protect the historic exterior throughout the project.
The sobering center combines new, code-compliant interior construction with a fully restored historic masonry façade, preserving the building's street presence for the surrounding neighborhood.
